The Coalition for National Trauma Research has established a physical presence at VelocityTX through a new coworking arrangement that gives the national organization a consistent on-campus base when its team convenes in San Antonio.
CNTR’s team is geographically dispersed, but its presence on campus further strengthens VelocityTX’s position as a convening point for trauma, prehospital and disaster medicine. A new MOU between Tech Bloc and the State of Nuevo León will strengthen ties between San Antonio and Monterrey, with VelocityTX serving as Tech Bloc’s referral partner for bioscience and health companies exploring the San Antonio market. Planning kicked off for the 2027 BRDG Health Summit this month with a meeting of the founding partners and organizing committee. BRDG is the evolution of our signature event, previously known as AIM, and will draw leaders from across business, R&D and the government in a focused discussion around trauma, prehospital and disaster care. VelocityTX hosted the Military Transformation Task Force for a conversation about the future of San Antonio's military ecosystem. The meeting also recognized Brig. Gen. David J. Wilson, recently-appointed commander of JBSA and the 502d Air Base Wing, and retired Maj. Gen. Scott Jackson, incoming director of COSA's Military and Veteran Affairs Department.

VelocityTX and its partners hosted a community wrap-up meeting for the Eastside Access & Infrastructure Initiative, which is focused on improving connections along Cherry, East Houston, Nolan and Commerce streets. Residents and stakeholders reviewed proposed projects aimed at creating safer streets and crossings, better sidewalks and accessibility, improved lighting, more trees and landscaping, and more welcoming public spaces.
Feedback from the meeting will shape a final report that organizes those projects by corridor and identifies priorities for future investment. The Merchants Ice building has a new tenant: Ray & Josephine, a French bistro from acclaimed chef Raphael Francois. Housemade breads, pastries, sandwiches and salads make it an easy new gathering spot for the campus and neighborhood alike.

VelocityTX CFO Rick Hernandez was elected Treasurer of the Foundation for Advancing Veterans’ Health Research. Established in 1988, FAVHR is a nonprofit organization that supports medical research and educational programs within the VA health system.
