Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas and VelocityTX recently hosted the first event in their Community Health Innovation Seminar Series.
It was held at the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization in downtown Brownsville.
VelocityTX is a San Antonio-based bioscience innovation center. It is a subsidiary of the Texas Research and Technology Foundation. MHM is also based in San Antonio.

Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas Inc., the nonprofit owner of Methodist Healthcare, one of the region’s largest hospital systems, has entered into a three-year partnership with VelocityTX.
The two entities have forged a new alliance with the VelocityTX East Side innovation campus to advance awareness, research and innovation related to social determinants of health.

The Texas Research & Technology Foundation has closed a second deal through its nonprofit subsidiary TRTF Community House, acquiring Quality Fence & Welding, a 43-year-old company undergoing its own expansion.
The transaction is expected to funnel more revenue into the ongoing build out of TRTF’s VelocityTX campus and a larger innovation district immediately east of downtown San Antonio.
