Program Overview
The VelocityTX Career Accelerator is a summer internship program that offers college students hands-on work in bioscience, entrepreneurial development, and related fields. Designed to provide students with valuable skills and experience, our paid internship program is designed to help you to take advantage of San Antonio’s rapidly growing STEM career opportunities that are being created right here on the VelocityTX campus.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
VelocityTX is proud to be located on the East Side of San Antonio and we make every effort to recruit East Side residents into our Career Accelerator. Employers will make their own hiring decisions based on business needs.
- College students in good standing at any San Antonio-area two- and four-year institution.
- STEM majors at any four-year institution who indicate an interest in biosciences and have an interest in working in San Antonio upon graduation.
How Long is the Program?
Internships begin in the summer, typically the first week of June, and last 10 weeks. Employers have the opportunity to extend the position beyond the school year.
- Interns typically work up to 40 hours during the summer and up to 20 hours if their position is extended into the school year.
- Extending internships beyond the designated period is at the employer’s discretion in conversation with interns.
What is the Application Process?
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled, therefore please indicate for which term you are applying. All applications must be submitted on the VelocityTX website.

- Skill Enhancement – VelocityTX offers training and workshops that will allow you to develop a
broader skill set and gain a deeper understanding of the world around you. This preparation equips you to contribute effectively to your employer’s projects and enhances your career prospects. Curriculum includes:- Week 1: Orientation and introduction to bioscience in San Antonio
- Week 2: Resume writing and cover letter
- Week 3: Personal branding and headshots
- Week 4: Interview skills
- Week 5: Networking and industry connections
- Week 6: Communication and public speaking
- Week 7: Workplace skills and career pathways
- Week 8: Financial and professional planning
- Week 9: Ethics and professional responsibility
- Week 10: Final presentations and reflections
- Long-term Opportunities – Your internship serves as an extended interview process, allowing you to showcase your skills, work ethic, and cultural fit with potential employers. This could lead to the possibility of permanent, long-term employment in the future, providing you with a pathway to a rewarding career.
